Canon has introduced the new EOS Rebel T1i Digital SLR camera, the first in the Rebel line to feature Full HD video capture. The new Canon Rebel T1i SLR incorporates some of the best technologies from the EOS 50D and EOS 5D Mark II models into an entry-level juggernaut. With a 15.1 megapixel CMOS sensor and HD video capture, along with the DIGIC 4 Imaging Processor, the Rebel T1i gives aspiring photographers plenty of reason to step-up to the latest and greatest model in the Rebel lineup.

Nikon has released a new firmware update for the Coolpix P6000 digital camera. Version 1.2 reduces electric consumption and fixes some functional issues with corrupted files when shooting in RAW + JPEG with distortion correction enabled. As distortion control cannot be used in conjunction with interval timer shooting, settings have now been modified so that they cannot be enabled simultaneously.

Nik Software has announced that Viveza plug-in filter is now available for Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 and higher. The update is free to current owners of Viveza. Edits made using the plug-in within Lightroom are non-destructive in nature, with edits applied automatically to a newly generated TIFF file and not the original. Viveza also takes advantage of Lightroom and its efficiencies for every day tasks, like the ability to edit multiple images in one session, saving time for photographers.

Panasonic has introduced the LUMIX DMC-GH1 as a new member of the LUMIX G Micro System of interchangeable lens cameras. Fully compliant with the Micro Four Thirds System standard, the LUMIX G Micro System combines a downsized body with advanced functions that achieve both easy operation and high quality. The new DMC-GH1 is called a CREATIVE HD HYBRID because it records not only high-quality photos but also high definition 1080/24p or smooth 720/60p HD movies in AVCHD format.

Panasonic has unveiled the LUMIX G VARIO HD 14-140mm/F4.0-5.8 ASPH./MEGA O.I.S. as a new member of the LUMIX G Micro System. The new LUMIX G lens incorporates an inner focus direct-drive linear motor for focusing, which enables smooth, silent operation of its fast and accurate contrast AF system, for use in both photo and movie recording. Adopting the Micro Four Thirds System standard, the new lens offers a wide and long zoom range of 14-140mm (35mm camera equivalent: 28-280mm).

Panasonic has unveiled a new interchangeable ultra wide-angle zoom lens called the LUMIX G VARIO 7-14mm/F4.0 ASPH. In spite of its impressive wide-angle zoom range of 7-14mm (35mm camera equivalent; 14-28mm), the new lens is surprisingly compact and lightweight for casual on-the-go use. Taking advantage of its wide, 114-degree angle of view, users can easily fit subjects into the frame even when shooting indoors where the distance is limited.

Casio has introduced the EXILIM Zoom EX-Z29. This newest member of the EXILIM line features a stylish, slim and compact design to increase portability, and provides an improved 10.1 megapixels of image resolution with 3X optical zoom.  The EX-Z29 will be on display at Casio’s booth at the Photo Marketing Association International Convention and Tradeshow. Available at retail in April, the EX-Z29 will be available in black, pink, blue, silver and purple with an MSRP of $149.99.

Eye-Fi has announced the release of two new wireless SD memory cards that will upload videos directly from a digital camera to a computer and the Web. Videos are growing in popularity, and more than 144 million videos were viewed online in 2008, according to comScore. In addition to automatic photo uploads, the next generation Eye-Fi cards effortlessly deliver their video clips to YouTube or Flickr.
