Canon has introduced two new printers for professional and advanced photographers, the ten-color PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II and the eight-color PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II. The PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II printer takes advantage of Canon's professional Lucia brand pigment-based inks for long-lasting, professional-quality prints. The PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II printer uses the Company's dye-based inks to produce brilliant, gallery-quality prints up to 13 x 19 inches on a variety of fine art papers and glossy media.

Nikon has announced the 50th anniversary of its F-mount lens-mounting system, employed on the company’s lens-interchangeable SLR cameras and NIKKOR lenses. Apart from Nikon, no other maker has been able to sustain its original lens mount for such an extraordinary period. The Nikon F-mount was first employed on Nikon’s earliest lens-interchangeable SLR camera, the Nikon F, released in June 1959.

Adobe has released Photoshop Lightroom 2.3 and Camera Raw 5.3. Photoshop Lightroom 2.3 fixes several issues introduced by the Lightroom 2.0 release and adds support for Nikon D3X and Olympus E-30. The new version of the Camera Raw plug-in replaces the original Camera Raw plug-in that was installed with Adobe Creative Suite 4, Adobe Photoshop CS4, Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 or Adobe Premiere Elements 7 software and adds support for Nikon D3X and Olympus E-30.

Canon has released firmware updates for the EOS-1D / 1Ds Mark III. The error indications are now further clarified to make the causes of errors easier to identify, and so that adequate support can be provided to our customers. The update also corrects the phenomenons in which a displayed image becomes pitch-black if it is zoomed in on during Live View shooting and in which "busy" may continue to appear on the camera if the USB cable is disconnected during USB communication.

Pretec has unveiled the SDXC 32GB, the world’s first, highest capacity and fastest SD card. SDXC (eXtended Capacity) is a next-generation SD card, with capacities up to 2 TB (2048GB), and read/write speed up to 50MB/s initially and up to 104MB/s in the future, with a possible 300MB/s as a long term roadmap. Pretec 32GB SDXC card can reach 50MB/s, depending on the host system design which needs to be compliant with SDXC, will be extended to 64GB SDXC by the 2nd half of this year.

Pretec has unveiled the world’s fastest CF card - the new Pretec 666X CF. Four times faster than a typical CF card, Pretec 666X CF’s dazzling 100MB/s speed is the largest speed boost in CF history. Pretec 666X CF card will likely also be the last of the high speed CF card in the CompactFlash industry, since 100MB/s speed is approaching the theoretical maximum speed of CF specification, which is 133MB/s. Pretec 666X CF card will start sampling by April from capacities of 4GB to 64GB.

Apple has released Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 2.5. This update extends RAW file compatibility for Aperture 2, iPhoto '08, and iPhoto '09 for the Nikon D3X and Epson R-D1x digital cameras. It also addresses issues related to specific cameras and overall stability. The update can be downloaded from Apple's website (3.81 MB, Mac OS X 10.4.11 / 10.5.3 or later required).
